This is a catchy phrase that you may have heard often… but not like this. This is a movie, a documentary, a maddening retelling of human history when people battled each other as never before or since. It is the story of the world as it turned around one man: Hitler. But it is also a story about other men, who chose to reflect themselves in Hitler. It is the story of people that believed and people that disbelieved. It is the story of fanatics and rationales, it is the story of pain and glory, the story of triumph and defeat, the story of wills and desperations, a terrible story of truths and falsehoods.
It is a story like no other that we have ever seen. It will torn you apart and break your soul, it will make you believe and understand what is the meaning of being human, for good and evil; from the beginning to the very end. And once you are over it, once you have gone through it and it through you, you will be changed. Forever.
It is not the truths that retells. It is not the falsehoods that hides. It is not the epic story that depicts and it is not the monumental human effort that lays open before your eyes.
It is its humanity that underlies the very message; the message that nothing is as it seems. Everything we know, we must challenge. Everything we are sure of, we must doubt. Everything we are given for granted, we must inquire. Everything we believe in, we must reject.
As humans we have no choice but to struggle… but this movie… this movie… this maddening movie will burn your soul. This movie shows without mercy and without quarter the very nature of the human struggle and the impossibility of ever being right. The impossibility of reason and the faint chance of a tiny peace.
This movie will give you what our words cannot; the insight and the emotion to seek, always seek a better truth. We must. We cannot rest. We owe it to ourselves, but we also owe it to everybody else. We are humans and as such this is our only option: seek and perish a little bit with every new incomplete answer.
But this movie… this maddening movie.
Incomplete…
Biased…
Encyclopedic…
Confusing…
Illuminating…
Correct…
Humble…
Prodigious…
Erroneous…
This movie… this maddening movie represents what human beings are. It represents their struggle, our struggle. There is no truth no more than there are no falsehoods. And in the end, in the very end the only thing that is left is human nature. Yours and ours. This is why we fight. This is why we struggle. We desperately want to be more than human, but we can't. And this won't stop us ever because we are humans. This is the final conundrum, the final truth if any that this movie, this maddening movie retells time and time again. We are all human. We are all here and it is the only thing we can be and the only place where we can be.
It is for this reason that we are Libertarians, because the only way to be better is to question everything… and then question it again. These are not just words; this is a way of life, a way of looking at life.
Watch the movie, if you can. It's free…if you have the stomach and the stamina.
We won't ask you to make up your mind and make your decision; how could you? What you will see is only a microscopic collection of selected bits and pieces of an incomprehensible larger picture. No human can. That is not what we are asking. What we are asking is simply this: keep your mind open because nothing is what it seems… and then challenge your views again.
Live long and prosper.
